About The Position

DLR Group is an integrated design firm focused on elevating the human experience through design. The Orlando studio has an opening for a Civil Engineering Summer Intern as part of the Emerging Professional Experience (EPX) Program. This program provides a meaningful introduction to the AEC industry, offering hands-on project work, mentorship, and learning sessions. Interns will gain exposure to various disciplines, participate in design discussions, project meetings, site visits, and business development efforts. The program combines mentorship, project work, and weekly learning sessions covering topics like design culture, sustainability, technology, communication, and project management. The goal is to develop and share design voices, build technical and professional skills, and contribute to design solutions.

Requirements

• Completed at least one year at an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering program.
• Experience with drafting programs such as Revit.
• Excellent communication, technology, and organizational skills.
• Good multitasking skills to easily switch between projects while keeping track of tasks.
• Ability to work individually as well as in a team environment.
• A desire to learn about the architecture/engineering design process.
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with architects and engineers as part of our integrated design process.
• Learn the tools, technology and workflow involved with BIM and how today’s designers deliver successful projects, including creating and coordinating documents using Autodesk’s Civil 3D software.
• Accompany team members on site visits to project sites to see the real-world results of what you do.
• Assist in developing concepts, calculations, modeling, drawing review, and project execution.
• 2D Drafting and 3D Modeling using Autodesk Revit Software.
• Help write and review civil-related specifications.
• Assist team with civil engineering calculations and code research.
