Grow with us, H2O+U. Your Opportunity As an Intern for Summer 2027 based in our Columbus office, you will work in a team environment and have exposure to water resources related projects. Our projects involve flood protection and risk reduction, stormwater management, water/wastewater treatment and conveyance, sewer tunneling, stream restoration, green infrastructure, and other aspects of civil engineering. Candidates should be highly motivated and dependable students who are taking or have taken water resources and other civil engineering courses. This is a terrific opportunity for a college student to support a number of exciting local and national projects.

Requirements

• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Good organizational skills, be reliable, detail orientated, and capable of working independently on assigned tasks
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction
• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited degree program for Civil, Environmental, or FABE Engineering
• Valid driver’s license required

Nice To Haves

• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcMap/GIS, PCSWMM, HydroCAD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS
• Previous internship or co-op experience is a plus

Responsibilities

• Assist engineering and administrative staff with tasks such as data processing and management using GIS to support hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.
• Prepare spreadsheets, graphs, and figures for design reports.
• Prepare design and construction plans, calculations, specifications, quantity take-offs and construction estimates.
• Assist with field work for data collection, site inspections and observations.
• Build surface models and draft in AutoCAD Civil3D.
• Support Project Managers with various tasks to advance and track project progress.
• Assist in other disciplines in the office such as Geotechnical, Transportation, and Environmental Services.
