About The Position

Schnabel is seeking a temporary full-time intern with a Civil Engineering background to support its growing business. The emphasis for this position is broadening the intern’s practical knowledge and experience by applying professional principles to real problems under the supervision of senior engineering personnel. The position will be held from May through August of 2027. Schnabel is an employee-owned, professional engineering and consulting firm that focuses on solving problems related to the earth and environment through specialization in geotechnical, geostructural, tunnel, and dam engineering. Requirements

Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering Bachelor’s. Enrollment in other college engineering or relevant science programs may be considered.
Possess good oral and written communication skills and computer literacy
Ability to work with direction as part of a team
Willingness to perform a variety of tasks including office and field work
Desire and willingness to work outdoors
Ability to routinely lift up to 50 pounds
Must possess a valid driver’s license as driving is an essential function of the job
Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record and credit check
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
Junior, senior, and graduate students
Prior professional work or summer intern work in a related field

Responsibilities

Apply professional principles, complex numerical models, and innovative solutions to real-world problems as part of a team of engineers and scientists while under the supervision of senior engineering personnel.
Assist in the preparation of CAD drawings for contract documents and reports with input and guidance from senior engineers in accordance with internal drafting procedures and guidelines.
Perform structural and geotechnical design calculations for tunnels and underground structures including tunnels, shafts, excavation support, and other underground facilities.
