About The Position

Bolton & Menk is seeking applications for our 2027 summer internship season. This is an opportunity to work with a talented team of professionals on community infrastructure solutions. As an Engineering Intern, you will assist with various transportation projects, including roadway and intersection design layouts, traffic counting, and plan production for roadway and highway improvement projects. You will also assist with calculations, periodic site visits, plan reviews, quantity calculations, and cost estimates. This internship is within our Transportation service group for the 2027 Summer season.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a Civil Engineering degree program or closely related program from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Minimum Cumulative GPA of 2.8.
  • Ability to work in extended outdoor conditions.
  • Physically capable of navigating rugged terrain for construction observation duties.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Have own transportation or ability to use public transportation.
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis, part-time basis or internship for any employer without restriction.

Nice To Haves

  • Desired GPA of 3.2 or above.
  • Desired to be a Sophomore or above with completed coursework in general surveying and AutoCAD drafting.
  • Preference may be given to students who have completed a previous internship with Bolton & Menk.

Responsibilities

  • Assist on civil engineering projects with tasks involving civil engineering, planning and design.
  • Assist with the preparation of reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Assist with construction observation, performing construction staking, and performing construction administration duties.
  • Work on various reports, complete design calculations, write specifications, and review shop drawings.
  • Assist with roadway and intersection design layouts.
  • Perform traffic counting.
  • Produce plans for roadway and highway improvement projects.
  • Perform plan reviews, quantity calculations, and cost estimates.
