About The Position

EquipmentShare is seeking a Civil Engineering Designer to join our Corporate Headquarters in Columbia, MO. This role will support nationwide expansion efforts and the Internal Design team on Corporate and Branch projects. The ideal candidate will help manage these projects and ensure that Corporate & Branch facilities adhere to EquipmentShare's design and engineering standards. This position requires efficient communication with internal Project Managers and stakeholders to define project goals, including site design features, budget, and schedules. The designer will be responsible for executing multiple projects under various deadlines, interpreting complex technical documents, and utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D to produce specifications, plans, and details. Collaboration with outside consultants in a client representation or liaison capacity is also expected. A passion for continuous learning and staying current with civil engineering trends, materials, and analysis techniques is essential.

Requirements

  • Able to work with a high degree of independence and be able to take the lead on initiatives with limited supervision is a must
  • Experience with commercial or industrial site layout, grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, paving, erosion control, and ADA design
  • Experience with new construction and renovation projects
  • Ability to apply, adapt, and manage, execution of civil engineering standards
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively self-manage design responsibilities across multiple concurrent projects
  • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated time management skills
  • Proficiency in the following software: AutoCAD and Civil 3D, Bluebeam, Civil engineering design & analysis software (StormCAD,, Hydro CAD , ArcGIS, etc.), Google Apps and/or Microsoft Office Suite
  • At least at least 5 years experience in the field of Site/Civil engineering is required
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and work on a computer
  • Traveling up to 15% to periodically visit our corporate office in Columbia, Mo., will be required

Nice To Haves

  • EIT or PE licensure is beneficial but not required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred. Equivalent technical training and experience may be considered

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Corporate & Branch facilities uphold the EquipmentShare design and engineering standards
  • Communicate efficiently and effectively with internal Project Managers and other stakeholders to develop initial project goals including non-negotiable site design features, budget, and design and construction schedule
  • Execute multiple projects under various deadlines
  • Read, interpret, and explain complex technical documents to peers and leaders.
  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to interpret site design requirements and to produce constructable specifications, plans, and details
  • Work with outside consultants in the form of client representation or liaison role.
  • Maintain current knowledge of trends, materials, analysis techniques and other. developments in civil engineering – demonstrate a passion for continuous learning.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
