About The Position

ENTRUST Canada is seeking a Civil Engineer to join their substation engineering team in Calgary. The role offers a dynamic work environment with a highly experienced technical team, providing guidance, hands-on training, and continuous challenges in engineering and design. The position involves leading and mentoring the substation civil team, reviewing designs, collaborating with other disciplines, and preparing various project documents. The engineer will also be responsible for safety promotion in design work, supporting construction phases, overseeing as-built drawings, and managing project close-out data. Additionally, the role includes tracking project progress, providing updates to senior management, maintaining knowledge of standards, conducting quality control, developing new tools, and estimating costs for bids. Client interaction and relationship maintenance are also key aspects of this position. Some travel for site visits may be required.

Requirements

Experience in the utilities industries in civil design of high voltage substation facilities.
Minimum of 5 years of work experience.
B.Sc. in Civil Engineering.
Registered as an active member with APEGA.
P.Eng is required.

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor the substation civil team.
Review designs for compliance.
Collaborate with other disciplines.
Prepare Design Basis Memorandum (DBM), Engineering Design Specification (EDS), cost estimates, material take offs, and scopes of work.
Create design packages.
Promote safety in all design work.
Prepare Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings.
Write construction scopes of work.
Provide engineering support during construction phases.
Oversee the preparation of As-Built drawings and project close-out data.
Support earthworks, foundation, and structural aspects of substation engineering.
Offer technical guidance to design teams.
Track project progress and provide weekly updates to senior management.
Maintain in-depth knowledge of client and industry standards.
Conduct quality control reviews.
Develop new tools and processes.
Complete cost estimates for bids.
Work closely with clients and maintain excellent relationships.
Conduct site visits for technical support during construction.
