About The Position

The incumbent serves as a Civil Engineer with wide latitude of independent action and decision to accomplish the mission of the organization assigned. Duties As a Civil Engineer, the incumbent utilizes professional engineering knowledge and techniques to plan and coordinate all assigned surveying and mapping functions, to include in-house surveys and surveys performed by contract. Provides technical expertise, judgment and guidance to counterparts within the District, other Governmental agencies, private interests and A-E firms. Evaluates geodatabases and other geospatial data files generated from periodic inspections for quality assurance and coordinates with District data manager for inclusion of data in District eGIS. Coordinates with other senior engineers within Division to ensure that surveys produced from UAS are accurate and meet requirements.

Requirements

  • Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in engineering with an ABET-accredited program, OR a degree including differential and integral calculus and advanced courses in five of seven engineering science areas, OR a combination of education and experience including professional registration/licensure, passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, or specific academic courses.
  • One year of specialized experience which includes: Utilizing geospatial software, such as CADD or GIS, for data processing, analysis, and management related to civil engineering or surveying projects.
  • Assisting with the quality assurance review of geospatial data, survey documents, or construction plans to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
  • Supporting the planning or execution of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) survey missions, which includes tasks like pre-flight checks, data collection, and post-flight procedures.
  • Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
  • Must provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • Must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration if male and born after December 31, 1959.
  • Must complete a 1 year probationary period.
  • Direct deposit of pay is required.
