Kennedy Jenks•Federal Way, WA
•$105,000 - $150,000•Hybrid

About The Position

Kennedy Jenks is seeking a licensed Civil Engineer with a structural focus in Federal Way, Washington, to lead design and consulting services for water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the United States. The role supports the integrity, life safety, constructability, and long-term performance of facilities such as pump stations, reservoirs, treatment plant buildings, tanks, clarifiers, and related infrastructure. The engineer works with engineers, designers, and construction teams as part of the Kennedy Jenks Technical Services Team. The position contributes across design, multidisciplinary collaboration, construction-phase support, and technology-enabled project delivery. It develops structural solutions using concrete, steel, wood, masonry, and composite materials; produces calculations, drawings, and specifications; and designs or evaluates facilities and existing structures, including those in high-seismic regions. The role also provides construction-phase engineering input and field structural observation, collaborates with municipal and industrial project teams, and applies BIM and analysis tools from planning through construction. This work supports critical water and wastewater systems and offers technical influence over safety, resilience, constructability, and long-term facility performance, with exposure from early planning and design through construction support. The role uses a hybrid home-and-office model, with a minimum of two days per week in the office. The anticipated salary range is $105,000 to $150,000 and may vary based on education, experience, qualifications, licensure or certifications, and geographic location.

  • Sound judgment, client awareness, and ability to translate complex structural considerations into practical recommendations.
  • Understanding of how design choices affect constructability, operations, maintenance, and long-term facility performance.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with designers, engineers, construction teams, clients, and stakeholders across disciplines.
  • Ability to balance technical requirements, project constraints, schedules, and client needs while adapting to changing priorities.
  • Comfort using analysis, drafting, and modeling tools to support coordinated design.
