About The Position

LaBella Associates is seeking a Civil Engineer with 2-5 years of experience to join their Civil division in Nashville or Chattanooga, TN. This role contributes to all phases of Civil Engineering projects, from concept development and detailed calculations to design, bid management, and construction support. The position requires strong communication skills and involves collaboration with internal teams and external clients. Flexible work arrangements, including hybrid or remote options, may be available. LaBella's Renewable Energy Group focuses on utility-scale and distributed energy projects, including solar and battery energy storage.

Requirements

  • BS in Civil Engineering
  • 2 to 5 years of design experience
  • Experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D and/or Microstation/InRoads and the ability to use either in designing utilities and grading is mandatory.
  • Proficiency with HydroCAD, AutoTURN is necessary.
  • Understanding of hydrology and stormwater design principles.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and coordinate with internal multidisciplinary teams and external clients.
  • Willingness to perform occasional field visits and attend project meetings.
  • Ideal candidates will be self-motivated, and possess a strong desire to satisfy clients.

Nice To Haves

  • FE certification is preferred.
  • Design experience in Nashville preferred.
  • Experience with renewable energy projects such as solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), or utility infrastructure is preferred.
  • Specific experience designing storm water management systems including compliance with local county/municipal guidelines; stormwater management calculations/reports grading schemes; erosion and sediment control measures; and roadways.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to all phases of Civil Engineering projects including the development of design concepts, performing detailed calculations, collaborating with other engineers and technical staff during detail design, producing effective and high quality drawings and specifications, managing bid phases, and supporting projects through construction and final closeout.
  • Communicate effectively using oral, graphic, and written forms.
  • Prepare construction drawings, technical reports, and permit application packages.
  • Manage multiple tasks and coordinate with internal multidisciplinary teams and external clients.
  • Perform occasional field visits and attend project meetings.
