Civil Engineer
About The Position
A multi-discipline consulting firm is seeking a Project Civil Engineer for their growing team in Huntington, New York! This role involves designing and coordinating multidiscipline projects, conducting due diligence and site feasibility studies, and managing site engineering through regulatory approvals and full permitting. The engineer will be responsible for site layout and design, including site grading and storm drainage, roadway design, water and sewer infrastructure, and erosion and sediment control. A key part of the role includes using knowledge of NYSDEC stormwater management and SWPPP requirements to prepare hydrology and hydraulic calculations. Project administration tasks such as writing reports, gathering information, preparing proposals and correspondence, tracking project costs, and completing progress reports are also essential. The position requires preparing engineer's opinions of probable costs for designed projects and specifications for public bids, coordinating tasks with other departments, communicating directly with clients, and ensuring high-quality, on-time, and on-budget technical delivery of all project requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or closely related discipline
- 5+ years of experience
- Site development/municipal engineering project design experience
- Thorough understanding of the entitlement processes on Long Island
- Knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices of related technical areas
- Familiar with the design of public infrastructure/public bidding process
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D skills, Autoturn, Excel, and Photoshop
- Authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship
