About The Position

This position serves as an experienced engineer providing civil engineering expertise for a variety of complex projects and activities in the Native American Affairs Office. Work may include design, studies, analyses, documentation, inspections, assessments, investigations, reviews, cost estimating, compliance evaluations, and evaluating facility capacities and operations. This position is funded for 1,820 hours. This opportunity applies to applicants legally eligible to work in the United States. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an 'at-will' relationship. An 'Enrollee' is not a federal employee, nor an employee of NEW Solutions. An 'Enrollee' is a participant in a grant program established through a Cooperative Agreement funded by the agency and administered by NEW Solutions.

Requirements

  • BA/BS Degree in Civil Engineering with minimum additional experience of 20 year(s) in reviewing technical documents, drawings and specifications, writing technical reports, and coordination with project stakeholders and contractors.
  • Must possess a current Professional Engineering license in good standing with the Arizona State Board of Technical Registration or be able to reactivate license registration within 3 months of starting work to an active license status.
  • Required to possess and maintain a valid driver?s license.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, Adobe Acrobat

Responsibilities

  • Completes and/or reviews of engineering designs to include: planning and conducting engineering studies or evaluations such as preliminary, appraisal, feasibility, final design, and value planning/value engineering.
  • Develops, monitors, and manages project plans that outline the scope, schedule, and budget of assigned projects. This includes coordination and communicating with other groups and offices throughout the organization such as program and project managers, engineering, etc. Managing changes to the project plans with external stakeholders, tribes, and regulatory authorities; identifying and addressing issues prior to adverse impacts to the schedule and budget and participating and/or leading technical teams.
  • Participates on and/or leads technical working groups or teams. May provide technical organizational representation and collaboration on teams external to the organization, including external stakeholders and partners.
