About The Position

The NV5 Meridian office is seeking a Civil EIT / Designer to become an integral part of our Development Services design team. This role involves working on a variety of development-related projects across Idaho and the Pacific Northwest, including site development design and CADD drafting for new residential subdivisions, multi-family, commercial and industrial development sites, and educational facilities. The ideal candidate will have an educational background in general civil engineering design and a passion for smart growth associated with various site developments and improvements.

Requirements

  • BSCE in engineering or related field from an accredited school preferred.
  • EIT Certification a plus or ability to obtain within 1 year.
  • 1+ years of engineering experience with a background in residential and commercial land development, including a combination of roadway, earthworks, water, sewer, and stormwater.
  • Must be proficient with Autodesk Civil3D (MicroStation a bonus).
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft products such as Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of construction plans, including plan and profile development, grading, and drainage.
  • Knowledge of principles of design and construction for utilities, infrastructure, and roads.
  • Ability to independently perform assignments with generalized instruction from professional staff.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with peers, co-workers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated practical, written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrates “best practices” techniques and a willingness to learn.
  • Candidate must possess a valid Driver’s License; must be able to meet company insurability requirements.
  • Attendance, punctuality, and reliability required.
  • This position does not offer U.S. visa Sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with GIS and ESRI software is a plus.
  • 3D modeling experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with engineers and Project Managers to produce designs and drawings from project requirements, sketches, existing drawings and electronic images, written and verbal descriptions.
  • Assist in the design and drafting of small, medium, and large size Land Development (residential, commercial, industrial) related projects.
  • Responsibilities include roadway, drainage, grading and utility infrastructure design for residential and commercial site development projects.
  • Site inspections/monitoring on project job sites.
  • Work closely with all departments to ensure that the drawings convey the correct information.
  • Work from customer drawings, company drawings, government drawings or specifications.
  • Research technical and other information sources to resolve complex problems.
  • Use the drawing standards as guidelines.
  • Teach and mentor others as skill levels dictate.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
