Due to continued growth, The Mannik & Smith Group (MSG) is seeking a Civil Engineer I to support our engineering team in Maumee, Ohio . This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to gain hands-on experience working on land development, municipal, and infrastructure projects while learning from experienced engineers in a collaborative environment. You’ll be involved in all stages of project development — from design and permitting through field support and construction documentation — with mentorship and support for professional growth and licensure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • 0–3 years of civil engineering design experience (land development or municipal projects preferred)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and related engineering software
  • Interest in stormwater management and site development design
  • EIT certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, multidisciplinary environment
  • Motivation to grow professionally and pursue licensure (PE a plus)

Responsibilities

  • Develop civil engineering designs and drawings including site layouts, grading, drainage, utilities, and roadways using AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Assist with permitting and regulatory compliance , including preparation of applications to local, state, and federal agencies
  • Prepare engineering calculations, feasibility studies, and technical reports to support design decisions
  • Collaborate with project managers, surveyors, and other engineering disciplines to deliver coordinated solutions
  • Support stormwater management and drainage design (software experience a plus)
  • Participate in site visits and field inspections to verify design implementation and support issue resolution
  • Maintain organized project files and documentation
