About The Position

Design Works Engineering is a multi-discipline engineering firm seeking a highly motivated Civil Engineer with a strong background in both field and design work. This is an on-site position working out of either our Kelowna or Comox office. The firm emphasizes creating great projects and even better relationships, with a diverse staff sharing this vision.

Requirements

  • A degree in civil engineering with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in municipal/ land development.
  • Must be a registered professional engineer in good standing with Engineers & Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D software.
  • Experience building Civil 3D templates.
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate with other disciplines and work as a team player.
  • Effective time management and strong organization skills.
  • Self-starter and attention to details.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • A valid Driver’s License as site inspections and travel will be occasionally required.
  • Fluent in English with strong written and verbal communication.
  • Comfortable multi-tasking and prioritizing tasks without supervision.
  • A natural self-starter with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues from various disciplines.
  • Understand the importance of providing a high level of customer service to all clients and stakeholders.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment where you welcome challenges rather than shy away from them.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field inspections and site visits for various civil engineering projects.
  • Prepare detailed civil engineering drawings and designs by using Civil 3D.
  • Prepare civil related engineering reports and analyses.
  • Prepare construction cost estimates, project specifications and contract documents.
  • Perform engineering calculations for water, sewer, and drainage systems.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, project team members, and stakeholders on various projects.
