About The Position

The Peoria Water Services Department has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineer. This classification will be assigned to the Planning and Engineering Division and will receive direction from the Engineering Supervisor. The purpose of this position is to assist in the annual development of the Water and Wastewater Capital Improvement Program; manage and deliver Capital Improvement Projects; perform water and wastewater system planning exercises; coordinate with developers to ensure compliance with city standards; and provide engineering technical support to the Operations divisions and other departments. Additional project management duties may include, but are not limited to project research, assigning and coordinating schedules; negotiating fees and contracts; preparing and reviewing intergovernmental agreements; oversee document drafting, reviewing design documents, studies, and reports; bid document preparation, bid coordination and review, managing construction contracts, other related tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, related field, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years professional engineering experience or in a related field.
  • Requires a working knowledge of Civil Engineering principles, specialized practices, equipment and procedures.
  • Registered Professional Engineer required upon hire with preference to Arizona registration.
  • Valid AZ Drivers License upon hire.
  • A minimum of four years of civil engineering design and planning experience with a focus on water and wastewater projects.
  • Professional Engineering Registration.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks.
  • Advanced knowledge of project delivery methods.
  • Experience working with engineering consultants and contractors.
  • Knowledge of City procurement policies and procedures.
  • Great attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to prepare and present important presentations.
