Requirements
- Successful completion of the Civil Engineer Trainee training program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
- Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists
- Four years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an engineer-in-training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists, and an associate’s degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline
- One year of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
- Possession of a valid driver’s license
Responsibilities
- Develop structural plans and compute material quantities for bridges and related structures
- Evaluate consultant submissions and design documents to ensure compliance with standards
- Prepare and review reports and permit materials for waterway impacts and approvals
- Assist with inspections and determine bridge ratings using approved engineering methods
- Collaborate with consultants, agencies, and internal units throughout project development
- Assemble and check final engineering plans, reports, and supporting documents
