Requirements

  • Successful completion of the Civil Engineer Trainee training program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists
  • Four years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an engineer-in-training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists, and an associate’s degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline
  • One year of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Develop structural plans and compute material quantities for bridges and related structures
  • Evaluate consultant submissions and design documents to ensure compliance with standards
  • Prepare and review reports and permit materials for waterway impacts and approvals
  • Assist with inspections and determine bridge ratings using approved engineering methods
  • Collaborate with consultants, agencies, and internal units throughout project development
  • Assemble and check final engineering plans, reports, and supporting documents
