The incumbent in this position will participate in a one-year formal and on-the-job training program to learn the duties of a Civil Engineer (General).

Requirements

  • One year of civil engineering experience and a valid Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists
  • A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related field that includes or is supplemented by major coursework in civil engineering. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate applications for oil and gas related activities to ensure compliance with environmental laws
  • Analyze hydraulic and hydrologic designs for structures and erosion control plans
  • Inspect dams, impoundments, and related construction sites and prepare written reports
  • Provide interpretations of rules and regulations to applicants and consultants
  • Enter required information into electronic systems and prepare record of decision documents
  • Coordinate project reviews with federal and state agencies and meet with applicants to resolve issues
