Requirements

  • One year of civil engineering experience and a valid Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists
  • A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related field that includes or is supplemented by major coursework in civil engineering
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree
  • Possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension
  • Ability to perform essential job functions

Responsibilities

  • Examine transportation project applications for compliance with environmental laws
  • Conduct site visits to evaluate hydrology and hydraulic conditions
  • Prepare engineering evaluations related to waterway and flood plain management
  • Collaborate with program staff on requirements under Chapters 102, 105, and 93
  • Engage in structured training to learn hydraulic engineering duties during the 12-month trainee period
