We're looking for a Civil Engineer to join our growing Renewable Energy Team in Chelmsford, MA. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 4 to 6 years of relevant civil engineering experience.
  • Experience with site development, grading, drainage, stormwater management, and permitting.
  • Working knowledge of civil engineering principles, codes, regulations, and construction practices.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and related engineering software.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and quality.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Nice To Haves

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain one.
  • Experience with HydroCAD, ArcGIS, or similar design and modeling tools.
  • Active involvement in professional engineering organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, design, permitting, and construction of renewable energy and land development projects.
  • Design site layouts, grading plans, and construction drawings using Civil 3D.
  • Design stormwater management systems and prepare supporting hydraulic and drainage calculations.
  • Support civil, water resources, and environmental engineering design efforts for renewable energy projects.
  • Evaluate existing site conditions and identify practical engineering solutions.
  • Perform site investigations, field assessments, and engineering analyses.
  • Analyze survey, GIS, geotechnical, and utility data to support project development.
  • Assist with permitting strategies, regulatory coordination, and environmental compliance.
  • Prepare technical reports, calculations, exhibits, and engineering documentation.
  • Work alongside engineers, planners, scientists, and project managers on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Contribute ideas and technical expertise to solve complex design and construction challenges.
  • Support project scoping, proposals, budgeting, and work planning activities.
  • Help identify project risks and develop practical mitigation strategies.
  • Support renewable energy projects that help communities meet sustainability goals.
  • Contribute to projects funded at the federal, state, regional, and local levels.
  • Participate in a culture that prioritizes safety, innovation, quality, and professional growth.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
