About The Position

SEH is currently searching for a Civil Engineer / Project Manager to join our talented Civil team! This is an opportunity to partner with our Civil team to build a local civil practice, managing existing client relationships with municipalities and private clients, while helping to build new ones. You’ll lead project delivery and help recruit the team that will support SEH’s long-term growth in Kansas. This role offers local leadership with national resources, allowing you to operate as SEH’s visible local civil engineer while drawing upon multidisciplinary expertise across the company. You will build upon current Wichita staff, relationships, and active regional growth plans, with the authority to grow by helping identify and recruit the project managers, designers, and technical staff needed as workload continues to grow. As an employee-owner, you will share directly in the value created through SEH’s long-term success and have access and autonomy to work directly with regional and company leaders while having meaningful influence over market and hiring decisions.

Requirements

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Kansas (required).
  • Residence in or near Wichita, KS with strong client connections
  • Proven track record of successfully managing civil engineering projects.
  • Flexible and broad technical skills across civil infrastructure disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to build client trust and contribute to business development, proposals, interviews, and project pursuit
  • Strong understanding of the Wichita municipal, utility, regulatory, and development environment.
  • Demonstrated relevant experience, including team leadership and project management.
  • Ability to build, develop, and guide engineering teams to achieve targeted business outcomes.
  • Confident public communicator who can represent SEH to Councils, Boards, Associations
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and lead effectively in a growing office.
  • The selected candidate must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the growth of SEH’s municipal civil practice in Wichita and surrounding communities.
  • Manage existing relationships with cities, utilities, counties, developers, partners, and other key stakeholders.
  • Identify client needs and develop practical strategies that convert relationships into projects and long-term accounts.
  • Serve as a project manager and technical leader for public infrastructure and select private development projects.
  • Develop project approaches, scopes, fees, schedules, staffing plans, and quality-management strategies.
  • Lead proposals, interviews, client presentations, and community or public meetings.
  • Coordinate project delivery using local staff and technical resources from across SEH.
  • Recruit, mentor, and lead a local civil engineering team as backlog and market opportunities grow.
  • Represent SEH through professional organizations, industry events, municipal associations, and community involvement.
  • Develop and maintain client strategy plans, pursuit priorities, and an accurate opportunity pipeline.
  • Serve as a technical lead on multidisciplined civil engineering projects in Wichita and surrounding areas.
