About The Position

McKinley Architecture and Engineering (MKA) is seeking a dedicated Civil Engineer, PE to join our dynamic team. MKA is a full-service architectural and engineering firm specializing in educational, commercial/retail, industrial, governmental, and institutional buildings, as well as sports design. The firm has offices in Wheeling, Charleston, and Martinsburg, WV, and Pittsburgh, PA. MKA recently merged with MCF Architecture, creating a regional powerhouse with nearly 100 employees. The role involves working on a variety of exciting projects, including site development, public utilities, water resources, master planning, and pavement management, within a collaborative, in-house team environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification.
  • 5+ years of working experience as a Civil Engineer.
  • Experience in site and land development, light to moderate roadway/access drive design, utility infrastructure design, and stormwater management design.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and hydrology/hydraulic calculation software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications (Word, Excel, OneNote, Planner, Project, etc.).
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review construction documents and permit submittals.
  • Assume responsible charge for the overall economic well-being of assigned project designs.
  • Perform hydrologic modeling and stormwater runoff calculations.
  • Conduct horizontal alignment, vertical alignment, and cross-sectional design.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in site layout, grading, utility design, sediment and erosion control, sanitary and storm sewer design, hydraulic modeling, and post-construction stormwater management system design while working with various regulatory agencies.
  • Effectively communicate, coordinate, and collaborate with diverse teams across design disciplines to achieve a superior work product, including the documentation of design changes.
  • Lead small/moderate design teams on site development-specific projects.
