About The Position

WSP is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer (Municipal & Land Development) to join our growing Infrastructure team in Smithers, BC. From designing safer water systems to shaping resilient northern communities, your work will support essential municipal infrastructure across northwest British Columbia. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in municipal infrastructure, land development, or water/wastewater systems design.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in British Columbia—or eligible for registration.
  • Proven experience preparing construction contract documents and supporting contract administration.
  • Demonstrated success managing client relationships and contributing to proposals or technical reports.
  • Proficiency with civil design tools such as Civil 3D or similar software.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver civil engineering solutions for water, wastewater, stormwater, and municipal road projects.
  • Lead preliminary and detailed design of linear infrastructure, including watermains, sanitary and storm sewers, pump stations, chambers, and related civil works.
  • Manage projects from concept through construction, including schedules, budgets, deliverables, and risk mitigation.
  • Conduct construction services such as field reviews, progress reporting, and contract administration.
  • Prepare proposals, technical reports, and design documentation that clearly communicate engineering intent.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary specialists across WSP to deliver integrated project outcomes.
  • Build lasting relationships with public‑sector clients and local partners throughout northwest BC.
