About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a Civil Engineer to support its Southeast region, with potential bases in Cary, Charlotte, or Greensboro, North Carolina. This role involves performing site civil design and project management for various projects. The engineer will be responsible for leading site civil design and permitting for industrial, pharmaceutical, and municipal facilities, including water/wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and utility projects. Key tasks include managing the planning, design, and permitting process to ensure compliance with contracts, drawings, specifications, codes, and Arcadis standards. The position requires close client communication, setting project goals, coordinating resources, and ensuring timely and budget-conscious project delivery.

Requirements

  • 8 years or more of experience in site civil projects
  • BS degree in Civil Engineering or related
  • PE License in North Carolina

  • Experience in the land development projects
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Excellent professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings
  • Client facing experience and ability to develop contacts and relationships
  • Ability to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several assignments

Responsibilities

  • Perform site civil design and project management tasks for a variety of projects in the region.
  • Lead site civil design and permitting efforts for industrial, pharmaceutical, and municipal facilities, including water/wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and utility transmission and distribution projects.
  • Manage the planning, design, and permitting process to ensure all work complies with contracts, drawings, specifications, applicable codes, and Arcadis quality and safety standards.
  • Communicate closely with clients, establish clear goals and objectives for project teams, and coordinate resources and schedules to successfully deliver projects on time, within budget, and in alignment with client expectations.
  • Provide technical expertise on multi-disciplined projects as a design leader, QA/QC reviewer or technical advisor.
  • Navigate local and state permitting requirements to obtain regulatory approval for projects.
  • Supervise and support the work of others while mentoring junior level engineers and technical staff.
  • Work directly with clients to determine needs and deliver solutions and lead the growth of client relationships with target clients.
