About The Position

Timmons Group is seeking Civil Project Engineers at various levels for their Land Development groups in Richmond, VA. Opportunities exist in Residential, Commercial, and Public Land Development groups, with projects including multi-family and mixed-use developments, apartment communities, industrial projects, residential neighborhoods, and public land development projects like schools, jails, fire stations, and parks. The role involves assisting clients with zoning entitlements, civil site plan approvals, and construction administration support. Project engineers will work in teams with design engineers and a project manager in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that fosters teamwork, diverse training, and a sense of ownership.

Requirements

  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future
  • A bachelor or master's degree in civil engineering or closely related field is required
  • EIT required
  • Experience with preparation of civil engineering site plans including site layout, utilities, grading & drainage, erosion control, and stormwater management is a plus
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • 2-8 years of professional experience in Land Development civil engineering, but entry level candidates will be considered

Responsibilities

  • Design portions of a project using relevant office software, modeling and Civil 3D technology
  • Complete calculations using engineering formulas and skills and/or utilize computers in order to solve problems
  • Prepare specifications materials through the use of research and equipment catalogs to specify materials, installation, inspection and payment of items specific to a project
  • Work to complete design details and plan sets
  • Perform research and writes objective summary reports which are used in the completion of the project work or inspection
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering and construction cost estimates
  • Complete field observation, inspection and data collection duties as directed by senior engineering staff
  • Communicate with client staff and internal design team as directed by senior engineering staff
