About The Position

Ardurra is seeking a Civil Engineer IV to join our Transportation team in Orlando, FL! Ardurra’s Transportation team delivers design expertise across a wide spectrum of projects, from complex multilevel interchanges to urban arterial reconstruction and complete streets. Our portfolio includes major projects such as the SR 417 Widening Project in Central Florida and the SR 40 Widening Project in Marion County, both of which demonstrate our commitment to enhancing mobility and safety. Each design is tailored to be cost-effective and responsive to client needs across all delivery methods, including Design-Build and Design-Bid-Build. We provide comprehensive planning, engineering design, and construction management to deliver safe and efficient transportation solutions. This role is focused on state roadway design and project delivery, supporting a mix of design-build and design-bid-build projects across Central Florida. The ideal candidate is a highly capable engineer who can lead design efforts, mentor staff, and apply advanced engineering judgment using client standards and tools within a MicroStation / OpenRoads Designer (ORD) environment. Primary Function The Engineer IV acts as a staff specialist in providing technical guidance for complex or unique assignments. Independently completes tasks or assigned parts of a project with minimal supervision. The incumbent must be capable of applying diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices and independently making decisions on significant design engineering problems or methods. In this role, you will support state roadway design and production efforts, contributing to both design-bid-build and design-build projects across Central Florida. This position requires strong technical capability within a MicroStation / OpenRoads Designer (ORD) environment and the ability to lead portions of design and mentor junior staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required (Florida or ability to obtain via reciprocity)
  • 6–10+ years of transportation/roadway design experience
  • Strong experience with FDOT standards and project delivery (Districts 1, 3, 4, or 5 preferred)
  • Advanced proficiency in MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer (ORD)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead design efforts and work independently on complex projects

Nice To Haves

  • Experience serving as a task lead or discipline lead on FDOT projects
  • Experience supporting design-build project delivery
  • Experience coordinating across multiple disciplines on large-scale infrastructure projects

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of state roadway design plans, including alignments, profiles, cross sections, MOT, and quantities
  • Utilize MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer (ORD) for advanced 3D modeling and plan production
  • Serve as a technical lead on projects, providing direction and oversight to engineers, designers, and CADD staff
  • Review and approve engineering calculations, plans, specifications, and supporting documentation
  • Ensure all deliverables meet client standards, scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements
  • Coordinate across disciplines including drainage, traffic, structures, and utilities
  • Evaluate design alternatives and make recommendations based on engineering judgment, cost, and constructability
  • Support design-build and design-bid-build delivery, including coordination with contractors and stakeholders
  • Assist Project Managers with project execution, client coordination, and technical decision-making
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and design staff
  • Participate in and oversee QA/QC processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Support construction-phase services, including RFIs, submittals, and field issue resolution
