About The Position

Black & Veatch is hiring a Civil Engineer Intern to support water and wastewater infrastructure projects. As a Summer Intern, you will contribute to projects that address infrastructure challenges and support client goals while developing professionally. You will work with multidisciplinary teams and gain experience with engineering software, design tools, and digital delivery methods. The role is based in a normal office environment.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering program at an ABET-accredited university, with emphasis in Structural, Environmental, Transportation, or Geotechnical engineering.
• No prior experience required.
• Must be able to complete applicable pre-employment onboarding requirements, which may include background checks, a drug screen, and a motor vehicle records search.

Nice To Haves

• Coursework in water/wastewater, hydraulics, and fluid mechanics.
• GPA of 3.0 preferred.
• Basic knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards for the assigned discipline.
• Basic industry knowledge and awareness of technology trends.
• Basic knowledge of construction and constructability practices and principles.

Responsibilities

• Read, understand, and apply departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes, and company policies and procedures.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams to support the design and construction of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Research and develop recommendations for equipment and materials selection.
• Prepare basic engineering calculations using standard methods and principles.
• Assist with project schedules, cost estimates, and engineering deliverables.
• Focus on the needs of internal clients and develop a basic understanding of external clients’ interests and drivers.
• Develop and apply knowledge of engineering software, design tools, and digital delivery methods.
