About The Position

Crawford, Murphy & Tilly is seeking a Civil Engineer III with a background in traffic and safety engineering to join their Surface Transportation group in the St. Louis, MO office. This is not a remote position. CMT is a fast-growing firm with over 500 employees across 25 offices in 10 states, serving clients through four primary business groups: Aviation, Surface Transportation, Water Resources, and Building & Site Services. CMT provides a range of services including planning, environmental, design, utility, and construction observation. As a Surface Transportation Civil Engineer III, the role involves supporting municipal infrastructure projects, working closely with experienced engineers and planners on various projects such as highway projects, roadway expansion, roadway diet, multimodal, site development, and transportation planning. The position offers the opportunity to acquire specialized industry knowledge and skills while working under a Professional Engineer (PE).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
  • 2-8 years of experience in the civil engineering field
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
  • Traffic and safety studies experience
  • Roadway design experience
  • Strong technical aptitude and familiarity with Microsoft Office
  • Traffic engineering software experience
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work in the field, as needed, for engineering roles.
  • Possession of a current and valid driver’s license to travel to field sites, as needed, for engineering roles.

Responsibilities

  • Support a variety of engineering, planning, or corporate projects
  • Acquire specialized industry knowledge and skills while working under a Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Utilize technical software to support the planning and design of infrastructure projects including traffic and safety engineering programs
  • Developing technical reports related to traffic and safety engineering and presenting collaborative ideas
  • Attend internal (CMT) and external (client) meetings
  • Contribute ideas and brainstorming to a team of engineers and planners
  • Be open to feedback and professional growth
  • Perform other duties as assigned
