This role is part of Blue Origin corporate functions, providing centralized support across Blue Origin business unit teams, functions, and locations. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Level II Civil Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will support the design and construction of new site infrastructure under the supervision of a licensed engineer. This role is ideal for someone who has passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and is committed to pursuing a Professional Engineering (PE) license.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, or ability to pass within a year
  • Ambition to obtain a Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in civil engineering (internship or co-op experience is a plus).
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

  • Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.
  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with site design and construction documentation.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to civil engineering projects.
  • Knowledge of sustainable design practices and green infrastructure.
  • Experience with industry standard softwares such as ICPR, WaterGEMs, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and review of construction documents, including plans, specifications, and estimates.
  • Contribute to the design of site infrastructure such as roads, drainage systems, utilities, and retaining structures.
  • Work closely with project managers, architects, and other engineers to ensure project goals are met.
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to discussions on design approaches and problem-solving.
  • Perform calculations and analyses to support design decisions.
  • Utilize CAD software and other engineering tools to create and modify design documents.
  • Assist in site visits to gather data, monitor construction progress, and ensure compliance with design intent.
  • Prepare field reports and provide recommendations based on observations.
  • Pursue continuing education and professional development opportunities to advance toward obtaining a PE license.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes.
