The City of Louisville is seeking innovative and motivated professionals for the Civil Engineer II or III position, working under the general supervision of the Assistant City Engineer within the Public Works Engineering Department. This role involves collaborating with employees, departments, divisions, State and Federal agencies, and the public to deliver effective and innovative engineering services. The Civil Engineer II or III will act as a project manager for assigned City Capital Improvement Projects, including preparing budgets, developing contract documents, providing project engineering and management, soliciting proposals, and administering contracts. They will maintain schedules and records, track expenditures, and monitor budgets for these projects. The role requires effective communication of complex issues to various stakeholders, including City staff, community groups, elected officials, and the public, and may involve preparing and delivering presentations. Coordination with the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) on transportation projects is also a key responsibility. The position involves reviewing and recommending approval of plans and specifications for various municipal improvements such as streets, sidewalks, drainage, water, and sewer systems. The Civil Engineer will also coordinate with the City's construction inspector, perform field observation duties, and resolve issues during construction. Additionally, the role includes coordinating Intergovernmental Agreements (IGAs), representing the City with internal and external stakeholders, and providing technical direction to engineering technicians and other engineering employees. The position also assists with development review, ensuring compliance with City codes and standards, and prepares cost estimates for public works projects. Responsibilities include preparing correspondence, City Council documents, and special reports, responding to public inquiries, and representing the Engineering Division at public meetings. The role also assists in developing long-range and short-range Public Works improvement programs and addresses traffic-calming and traffic-related service requests, including reviewing and investigating requests for signage, striping, and traffic-calming, and developing solutions. Finally, the position reviews transportation grant opportunities and completes grant applications for strategic projects.
