About The Position

We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Civil Engineer I/II in the Engineering and Operations Department. This position is responsible for assisting with the planning, designing, construction, and maintenance of the City's public infrastructure and capital improvement projects and assisting with project management under the supervision of the Engineering Director.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or other related engineering or science field relevant to the position.
  • For Civil Engineer I: Two (2) years of work experience in civil engineering plan review, engineering design, or closely related experience.
  • For Civil Engineer II: Five (5) years of work experience in civil engineering plan review, engineering design, or closely related experience.
  • Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record for eligibility of City coverage.
  • For Civil Engineer II: Must be a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois, or able to obtain within 6 months.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of FE Exam preferred but not required.
  • Work experience within a municipal or public works/public utilities department preferred.
