About The Position

This position supports statewide safety improvements at rail-highway crossings by serving as a key engineering representative for the Commission. The role involves independent decision making and coordination with many agencies and companies to ensure safe and effective project outcomes. As a Civil Engineering Consultant Bridges, you will perform the following duties: Field Investigations: Conduct site visits to assess rail-highway crossings and determine necessary safety actions Plan Reviews: Examine engineering and design plans to confirm compliance with safety standards and Commission requirements Expert Testimony: Prepare and present technical findings and exhibits during formal hearings Project Monitoring: Track progress on assigned proceedings and work with parties to resolve delays or issues Final Inspections: Perform official inspections to verify that completed work meets Commission orders and safety expectations.

Requirements

  • Four years of professional civil engineering experience which includes three years in the appropriate specialty.
  • Possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
  • For the Bridges and Transportation parentheticals, successful candidates with an out of state Professional Engineer license will be required to produce a valid Professional Engineer license issued by Pennsylvania within their initial six-month probationary period.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
