About The Position

Kimley-Horn's Raleigh, North Carolina (NC) office is seeking a Civil Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join their Aviation team! This is not a remote position. Responsibilities will include preparing analysis reports in support of airport planning, design, and construction. In addition to strong technical experience, other responsibilities will include managing project tasks, project design and permitting, construction coordination, and coordinating work with other team members. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to contribute to the successful completion of assigned projects. Maintain a high degree of quality sets of plans along with checking the work of others. Assist in monitoring project progress, budgets, and schedules. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a team of engineers and designers on a variety of projects. You will flourish on both building meaningful internal and external professional relationships. You will work closely and collaboratively with other industry-leading professionals, various jurisdictions, and contractors.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of aviation engineering design experience
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
  • Familiarity with contract document preparation and cost estimating
  • Familiarity with FAA Advisory Circular’s and Engineering Briefs
  • Familiarity with pavement design and FAAR Field Design Software
  • Strong desire and passion to be engaged with clients solving project problems and working with the team to deliver
  • Strong AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or MicroStation experience
  • Ability to work in a team; both collaborating with and mentoring junior staff
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
