About The Position

The Civil Engineer Associate I will perform basic engineering duties associated with the design of civil engineering projects in the Cedarburg, WI office. This position supports all aspects of design projects for roadways, utilities, transit, etc.; prepare schematics & models; performs analysis & engineering calculations; develops plans, specifications & estimates; prepares technical engineering reports; may perform field duties for various civil engineering projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institute of higher education with a major study in engineering.
  • Possesses foundational engineering concepts.
  • Acquires basic knowledge and develops basic skills through mentored experience.
  • Evaluates and applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks as part of a broader assignment.
  • Performs work assignments of minimal complexity.
  • Contributes to specific objectives and outcomes.
  • Receives instruction on specific objectives and direction on possible solutions to unconventional or complex problems.
  • Works as part of a team.
  • Typically receives close supervision on most aspects of assignments and a general review of all aspects of work.

  • Adheres to project deadlines and scope and keeps the task manager informed of any difficulties encountered on assignments.

  • Experience in preparing construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Complete state-required competency.
  • Attend job-related seminars and workshops.

  • Basic background in and knowledge of local agency standards preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in developing detailed construction plans for roadway, utility, electrical, and transportation projects using Bentley and/or AutoDesk software.
  • Assists in updating drawings and calculations per design changes and revisions based on internal or external feedback.
  • Communicates regularly with internal design staff to coordinate the progress of various assignments and adhere to project deadlines.
  • Independently manages time and schedule to achieve multiple project milestones.
  • Assists with organizing and maintaining project files.
  • Applies current engineering standards and procedures to assigned projects.
  • Participates in quality control reviews throughout the lifecycle of a project.
  • Perform review of your own work before submitting to the next review level.

Benefits

  • Pay Range: $70,000 - $75,000 per year
