About The Position

Davis, Bowen & Friedel, Inc. (DBF) is hiring a Civil Designer to support the production of infrastructure designs that enhance, maintain, and protect communities. The role involves reviewing technical drawings and assisting with construction documents. The ideal candidate has knowledge of stormwater, water, wastewater, and roadway design, and awareness of the applicable local, state, and federal regulations in the public and private sectors. DBF offers a varied project portfolio and opportunities for promotion based on organizational needs. This is an in-person position; hybrid and remote work are not available.

Requirements

At least two years of experience with basic civil/site design, including grading and drainage, utilities, and erosion control design for residential and commercial projects.
Knowledge of stormwater, water, wastewater, and roadway design.
Awareness of local, state, and federal regulations applicable to the work.
Attention to detail.
Ability to innovate and develop creative solutions within the built environment.
Ability to communicate ideas clearly, listen actively, and ask appropriate questions.
Ability to solve problems and make sound decisions.

Nice To Haves

A two- or four-year degree in civil engineering (preferred).

Responsibilities

Use design software, computer-aided drafting, and other applicable tools to plan, design, and permit water and sanitary sewer infrastructure, roadway and streetscape improvements, and stormwater conveyance and management projects.
Perform civil design analysis and calculations according to project requirements.
Prepare or assist with preparing correspondence, cost estimates, and bid documents for clients.
Perform field activities, including observing and recording existing conditions and taking and verifying measurements within project areas.
Incorporate survey information, project documentation, and jurisdiction codes into designs.
Use feedback to modify existing designs and develop solutions.
Provide timely technical assistance.
