About The Position

We are currently looking for a Civil Designer to join our fast-growing, family-led engineering firm in Riverdale, Utah. If you are a proactive, detail-oriented professional who wants to take the lead on complex site development projects while mentoring the next generation of designers, this is your opportunity. You will prepare CAD drawings for a wide array of projects, including drainage, transportation, traffic, land, and large-scale commercial and residential site developments. This isn't just a drafting role. You will lead the preparation of detailed drawings, update our civil CAD standards, and actively mentor junior designers and drafters.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of drafting experience OR an accredited CAD certification with senior-level project experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Proven ability to lead and design projects while successfully managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong ability to read, interpret, and apply engineering plans, specifications, surveys, and technical documents.
  • A proactive problem-solver with a positive, professional attitude who works efficiently both independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of detailed civil design drawings, including site layouts, grading, drainage, utilities, roadway design, and plan/profile sheets.
  • Develop 3D surface models, alignments, corridors, grading plans, and earthwork calculations using Civil 3D.
  • Work closely with civil engineers to interpret engineering reports, field data, and surveys to refine design concepts and resolve complex issues.
  • Maintain drawing accuracy through strict version control, redline updates, and quality checks.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal design codes.
  • Prepare and update civil CAD templates and best practices.
  • Actively support and mentor junior designers on the team.
  • Support project scheduling, workload planning, and task tracking to ensure we hit our legendary turnaround times.
