About The Position

IMEG is hiring a Civil Design Technician in Missoula, MT, to work closely with experienced engineers and consultants in delivering civil design solutions and advice that support positive client outcomes. In this role, you will help prepare models and drawings for civil engineering projects while contributing to work that meets project goals and client expectations. You’ll also support project execution within budget and collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the design process.

Requirements

  • Associates degree, or certificate, in utilizing Autodesk Civil 3D or equivalent software tools or engineering preferred
  • 2 years of experience minimum required, 3 preferred, in the civil engineering consulting or construction industry
  • Knowledge of industry standard engineering software and tools, primarily Civil 3D but experience with Bentley OpenRoads is a plus
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Experience with Bentley OpenRoads

Responsibilities

  • Request clarification on markups or drafting instructions that are not clear
  • Assist with field measurements of existing plans and prepare drawings from field data
  • Support the design and analysis of civil engineering projects using engineering software and tools
  • Help create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards
  • Document design decisions and client instructions while monitoring project design progress
  • Analyze low- to medium-complexity design tasks and collaborate with senior engineers and consultants on practical solutions
  • Participate in IMEG quality control processes to help ensure designs meet IMEG, industry, and client requirements
  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and civil engineering best practices while contributing to innovation efforts
  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of design work and help identify and mitigate potential safety risks
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, and project managers, to support integrated project delivery
