About The Position

Kimley-Horn is seeking an experienced CAD Operator to join their Land Development team in Orlando, Florida. This role is not remote. The individual will be responsible for designing and producing plan sets for various land development projects, implementing AutoCAD drafting standards, and developing technical drawings using CAD software. The position involves quality checking complex drawings and plans, performing calculations, and requiring minimal supervision for daily tasks. The CAD Operator should possess knowledge of engineering principles, be able to suggest design changes, maintain the drawing database, and may supervise and train other CAD staff. Coordination of work activities to meet schedules and ensure quality control is also a key responsibility, along with developing familiarity with Kimley-Horn’s practices and standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3+ years of relevant experience
• Advanced knowledge and proficiency in Autodesk or Bentley products
• Detail oriented, professional attitude, good communication, team player, self-starter
• Strong work ethic, interpersonal communication/writing skills and desire to learn
• Ability to work independently and with a team

Responsibilities

• Designing and producing sets of plans for commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential Land Development projects
• Implementing and managing AutoCAD drafting and plan preparation standards
• Developing technical drawings and plans using CAD software
• Making and quality checking drawings and plans of substantial complexity
• Performing some multifaceted calculations
• Maintaining drawing database
• Supervising and training CAD staff
• Coordinating work activities to maintain schedules and ensure quality control
• Developing familiarity with Kimley-Horn’s practices, procedures, and standards
