About The Position

Kimley-Horn is looking for an experienced CAD Operator to join our Surface Transportation/Traffic Engineering team in our North Austin, Texas (TX) Office! This individual will primarily be responsible for designing and producing construction plans for traffic signals, roadway illumination, roadway signing and pavement markings, intelligent transportation systems, temporary traffic control, and other transportation improvements. They will implement and manage CAD drafting and plan preparation standards, develop technical drawings and plans using CAD software, and make and quality check drawings and plans of substantial complexity. This role may perform some multifaceted calculations and requires minimal supervision to perform day-to-day tasks. The individual will have knowledge of engineering principles, suggest design changes, maintain the drawing database, and may supervise and train CAD staff. They will also coordinate work activities to maintain schedules and ensure quality control, and develop familiarity with Kimley-Horn’s practices, procedures, and standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency in Autodesk or Bentley products
  • Detail oriented, professional attitude, good communication, team player, self-starter
  • Strong work ethic, interpersonal communication/writing skills and desire to learn
  • Ability to work independently and with a team

  • Associates degree preferred
