Civil Design Technician - Land Development
About The Position
Kimley-Horn is seeking an experienced CAD Operator to join their Land Development team in Miami, Florida. This role focuses on designing and producing plan sets for various land development projects, ensuring adherence to AutoCAD drafting and plan preparation standards. The individual will utilize CAD software to create technical drawings and plans, perform quality checks, and may handle complex calculations. This position requires minimal supervision and a strong understanding of engineering principles, with the potential to train and supervise other CAD staff. The role also involves maintaining the drawing database, coordinating work to meet schedules, and ensuring quality control, while developing familiarity with Kimley-Horn's specific practices and standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of relevant experience
- Advanced knowledge and proficiency in Autodesk or Bentley products
- Detail oriented, professional attitude, good communication, team player, self-starter
- Strong work ethic, interpersonal communication/writing skills and desire to learn
- Ability to work independently and with a team

Responsibilities
- Designing and producing sets of plans for commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential Land Development projects
- Implementing and managing AutoCAD drafting and plan preparation standards
- Developing technical drawings and plans using CAD software
- Making and quality checking drawings and plans of substantial complexity
- Performing multifaceted calculations

- Maintaining drawing database
- Supervising and training CAD staff
- Coordinating work activities to maintain schedules and ensure quality control
- Developing familiarity with Kimley-Horn’s practices, procedures, and standards
