About The Position

Ontivity is a leading critical infrastructure construction company in the Eastern United States, serving diverse sectors including telecommunications. The Civil Crew Foreman will provide supervisory support to a ground crew for all aspects of construction, such as pouring foundations, installing fencing, assisting with grounding, and maintaining site surroundings. This is a safety-sensitive position.

Requirements

  • Ability to work in a team environment and be a valued member of the crew and the company.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, piping diagrams, job specifications, mounting specs, and testing procedures.
  • Ability to operate different types of equipment such as backhoe, forklift, electrical and hand tools.
  • Successful completion of industrial first aid and rescue training.
  • Must have excavator experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and by email with team members and clients.
  • Ability to lead a crew and project a positive attitude toward others in all work-related settings.
  • Must be self-motivated with the desire to learn new things and project a positive attitude toward others in all work-related settings.
  • Must possess leadership and coaching skills and be competent in conflict and crisis management.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and carry out instructions.
  • Ability to work on a team and independently as required.
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • 3 to 5 years experience working on a tower construction crew.
  • Combination of education and experience to total 5 years.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead construction crew to complete a project.
  • Must be in good physical condition with the ability to routinely bend, squat, climb, kneel, push, pull, lift 50lbs or more, lift in awkward positions, stand, and twist for extended periods.
  • Must be willing to travel out of market/state for up to several months at a time (90%).
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes DOT physical, background check, and drug/alcohol testing and participate in the random testing program.
  • Must be willing to work in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to drive company vehicles.

Nice To Haves

  • Related trade school education preferred.
  • A commercial driver's license (CDL) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize safety above all else.
  • Provide on-site supervision of all construction activities as defined in the scope of work, during both day and night shifts.
  • Supervise and lead team members, establishing clear expectations and goals, and providing coaching, mentoring, and development.
  • Maintain the project timeline as directed by the Construction Manager/Project Manager.
  • Complete daily site field reports and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) forms.
  • Provide input on site scope.
  • Collect and submit all on-site closeout documentation to the closeout manager within deliverable timelines.
  • Review all on-site closeout documentation for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
  • Participate in continuous training, including weekly safety calls.
  • Ensure the quality, timeliness, accuracy, and schedule adherence of the site crew.
  • Perform grounding, terminations, fastening, proper bolting, antioxidant use, support of leads, and cadwelding as required.
  • Assist with overall job tasks, including groundwork, site construction and installation per customer specifications, maintaining a safe work environment, daily use and completion of JSA forms, assisting with overall crew work, and maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
  • Assist in the coordination, preparation, and cleaning of job sites.
  • Schedule and attend permit inspections with the local municipality, if required.
  • Continue to work towards training and certifications for related work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
