About The Position

Milestone Contracting is establishing a long-term presence in the East Kootenay region and is seeking an experienced Civil Superintendent to join our growing team. This role is based out of Cranbrook, BC, with projects located throughout the Kootenays. Travel between projects will be required and compensated. This is more than a traditional Superintendent role. We are looking for a technically strong and emotionally mature leader who can independently lead field execution, strengthen developing leaders, reinforce Milestone’s culture, and help establish a stable long-term regional presence. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the growth and success of our East Kootenay operations while working closely with regional leadership and head office teams.

Requirements

  • Extensive civil construction experience in field leadership roles
  • Strong understanding of underground utilities, grading, production planning, and site coordination
  • Proven ability to lead crews and manage day-to-day construction execution
  • Experience mentoring and developing younger leaders
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A collaborative and solutions-oriented leadership style
  • Comfort using technology, systems, reporting tools, and digital communication platforms
  • High accountability and professionalism
  • A growth-minded approach with a willingness to continuously improve
  • 10+ years of civil construction experience
  • 5+ years in a Superintendent or senior field leadership role
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Strong understanding of civil construction methods and sequencing
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Strong organizational and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Local East Kootenay experience and relationships are considered a significant asset, including familiarity with: Municipalities and inspectors, Regional subcontractors and suppliers, Local labour markets, Weather and seasonal construction impacts, Regional logistics and material supply considerations
  • Safety certifications considered an asset
  • Experience with municipal and infrastructure projects preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day field execution of civil construction projects including underground utilities, municipal infrastructure, grading, earthworks, roadworks, and site servicing projects.
  • Lead field operations safely, efficiently, and professionally.
  • Coordinate crews, subcontractors, equipment, materials, and production sequencing.
  • Manage schedules, productivity, quality, and site execution.
  • Support and mentor Foremen and developing field leaders.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Management and regional leadership.
  • Build strong working relationships with clients, inspectors, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure projects align with Milestone’s operational systems and standards.
  • Utilize technology, reporting systems, and planning tools effectively.
  • Identify and solve problems proactively while maintaining a calm and solutions-focused approach.
  • Contribute to a strong, accountable, and team-oriented culture.
