About The Position

Giles Flythe Engineers, Inc. is looking for a Civil, Construction, or Architectural Engineering Intern to join our team this upcoming Summer of 2027 in Raleigh or Charlotte, North Carolina. In this role, you will work alongside engineers to assist property owners in solving problems and understanding building and site improvements through field investigations, technical reports, and repair/construction design. You will gain hands-on experience while working on a variety of projects, including performing on-site field investigations and structural assessment of existing homes, buildings, or structures, completing forensic structural engineering evaluations and reports, working on a variety of HOA and commercial property projects, and communicating effectively and professionally in writing and verbally. You will also travel to inspection sites, both residential and commercial.

Requirements

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Construction, or Architectural Engineering from an accredited engineering program.
  • Proven technical writing and report writing skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with the team on a daily basis.
  • Ability to work independently but also as part of a team.
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
  • Willing to perform inspections in crawl spaces, attics, basements and roofs.
  • Must have the ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, climb and balance.
  • Valid Driver's license with a good driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior construction or structural engineering internship experience is desired.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and AutoCAD a plus.
