About The Position

GHD is looking for an experienced Civil/Coastal Engineer to join their Maritime and Coastal (M&C) practice. This role will primarily provide technical leadership and overview on several waterfront projects in California, Oregon, Washington, and the Pacific (West Region). The position is located in Hawaii, either Honolulu or the Big Island. The company offers a hybrid work model, requiring three days a week in the office for collaboration and connection.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil / Coastal / Structural Engineering from an accredited university
  • 8+ years of engineering experience, or consulting experience
  • Registered Professional Engineer.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D, proficient is desirable
  • Knowledge of coastal and/or fluvial modeling and design software
  • Dedicated to managing time, handling priorities, and working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to excel in a multidisciplinary team environment as well as independently
  • Attention to detail and ability to complete diverse assignments
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with fellow engineers on a wide range of coastal / civil engineering projects.
  • Contribute to and manage development of technical reports, plans and specifications.
  • Maintain open communication with project teams and M&C group members.
  • Coordinate and work with cross-discipline teams on other market sector projects.
  • Proactively coach, train and empower project team members; handle oversight and maintain project requirements for safety, quality, efficiency to ensure they are maintained throughout the duration of the project.
  • Grow and lead existing and new client relationships.
  • Support pursuit/proposal efforts, developing scope, schedule and budget.
  • Provide mentorship and development advice to junior level staff.
  • Interact with clients, suppliers, and regulators and manage projects to successful completion.
  • Keep up to date with technical qualifications and licenses.
  • Contribute to coastal permitting and environmental documents, writing and data preparation for grant applications, collaborating closely with community, stakeholders and industry.
  • Involve yourself in local committees, action groups and special interest organizations, with a view towards furthering your own skills and brand recognition for GHD.
  • Stay current and well advised on M&C market trends, client spending, assets, resiliency and logistics.
