About The Position

Austin Industrial, Inc. is seeking an experienced Civil Carpenter/Fireproofing based in Houston, Texas. This position requires NCCER, a Driver's License, and a TWIC Card. It is a long-term position with 4 10-hour shifts plus occasional overtime. No per diem is offered.   • 4 years of Journeyman-level experience.
  • Must know about structural design.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to read and interpret simple layouts.

Responsibilities

  • Construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard, using carpenter's hand tools and power tools.
  • Study specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required.
  • Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
  • Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Erect and destruct concrete forms, scaffolding and ramps above ground level.
  • Remove damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair or replace, using hand tools.
  • Maintain records, document actions, and present written progress reports.
  • Construct forms or chutes for pouring concrete.
  • Verify trueness of structure, set grade, check for plumb, etc.
  • Mix, transfer and extend materials such as concrete and asphalt.
  • Fabricate and install concrete reinforcing bars.
  • Place and finish concrete.
  • Maintain clean job site, pick up tools/equipment, secure job site each day-eliminate potential hazards.
  • Be able to operate a forklift.
  • Be able to move or rearranging furniture.
  • Do general clean up.
  • Be able to paint.
  • Prepare water and deliver to crafts or units.
  • Replace doors, walls, and build stairs as needed.
  • Install structural protection to the frame of a building, such as dry cladding, mineral sprays, or intumescent.
  • Construct fire-resistant walls and ceiling linings.
  • Install thermal and acoustic insulation, fire seals, cavity barriers, and fire-resistant ducting.
  • Ensure the correct application and installation of fireproofing systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.
