About The Position

Parsons is seeking a Designer/Drafter for its expanding transportation project portfolio, focusing on road and highway design in the Atlanta – Sandy Springs, Georgia office. This role involves performing basic to moderately-difficult design/drafting assignments, requiring a solid understanding of design/drafting standards, practices, and techniques, as well as the materials and methods used in the assigned discipline. This is a full-time, office-based position.

Requirements

High School Diploma (or equivalent).
2 years or more of relevant experience with civil and road/highway design projects.
PC literacy and working knowledge of MicroStation.
Working knowledge of other computer software used to complete design assignments.

Nice To Haves

2-year technical degree or certificate of completion from an accredited designer/drafter course (or equivalent).
Working knowledge of Bentley ProjectWise.
Knowledge of Georgia DOT Plan Presentation Guidelines and Electronic Data Guidelines.

Responsibilities

Utilizes MicroStation to prepare engineering drawings including basic arrangements, layouts, cut sheets, and details according to established standards and procedures.
Ensures drawings comply with GDOT EDG and PPG and other drafting standards.
Compiles data and performs dimensional and routine calculations for drawing preparation.
Understands and interprets orthographic (2D) and/or isometric (3D) designs and construction drawings for road, highway, and bridge projects.
Develops roadway and highway design plans, encompassing horizontal/vertical alignments, drainage, and pavement marking.
Assists in preparing design submittals to clients such as GDOT.
Performs other appropriate responsibilities as assigned.
