The Civic Engagement Coordinator provides programmatic and operational support to the State Director for Community & Civic Engagement and Executive Program Director in the implementation and ongoing coordination of teen civic engagement programs, including Youth & Government®. This role supports the delivery of high-quality, mission-driven programming that emphasizes leadership development, civic engagement, career exploration, and service learning. The Civic Engagement Coordinator is responsible for coordinating day-to-day program activities, supporting workshops and events, communicating with participants and program partners, assisting with recruitment and outreach, maintaining program records, and supporting program evaluation. The Coordinator works closely with YMCA staff, volunteers, educators, schools, and community organizations to ensure program activities are organized, responsive, and aligned with established program goals and YMCA standards. The position also provides direct support and mentorship to youth participants and contributes to an inclusive, welcoming, and goal-oriented program culture. The Civic Engagement Coordinator represents the YMCA professionally in schools and community settings and may assist with special projects, statewide initiatives, and national program opportunities as assigned. This position requires strong organizational and communication skills, initiative, sound judgment, and a commitment to expanding equitable access to civic engagement and leadership opportunities for young people across Oʻahu.
