About The Position

Serves and executes warrants and other processes issued for the Municipal Court.

Requirements

• Certified Peace Officer Certification
• Completion of a high school diploma or the equivalent with an additional six months of responsible work involving public contact
• Knowledge of the elementary principles of the laws of arrest and custody
• Knowledge of Municipal Court procedures
• Ability to understand oral and written instructions
• Ability to deal tactfully and firmly with the public
• Ability to communicate effectively with others
• Frequently lift and carry up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds
• Occasionally stand and walk during the shift
• Coordinate eye, hand, and foot movement in order to operate a vehicle

Responsibilities

• Serve and execute warrants
• Arrest persons
• Explain legal rights and take them into custody
• Refer to local directories and contact various public agencies, utility companies, and merchants in attempting to locate subjects
• Maintain records and files
• Return prisoners from out-of-town to enter pleas in court
• Transport arrestees from other agencies
• Perform related duties as directed
