About The Position

Resident Advisor (RA) is seeking a City Manager for Boston to serve as the local connection to the city's electronic music community. This role is part of RA’s Global Content Network (GCN) and focuses on keeping local content sharp and current. The City Manager will support the community by adding and enriching listings for events, artists, venues, and promoters, and by contributing editorial ideas to tell the story of what's happening locally. The goal is to ensure people in Boston can rely on RA for information about parties and the people behind them. The role emphasizes a city-first approach, tailoring the focus based on the specific scene and current needs of Boston, with agreed-upon outcomes and scope reviewed every six months.

Requirements

  • Embedded within the local scene with a wide existing network.
  • Outgoing personality who builds networks quickly.
  • Track record of effective communication, both personal and digital.
  • A passion and understanding of electronic music culture is fundamental.
  • Willingness to live RA’s values.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Fluency in the local language (Boston).

Responsibilities

  • Keep RA accurate in Boston by ensuring event listings, venue pages, and artist pages reflect current happenings.
  • Pitch parties, people, and stories that are relevant locally, and contribute to RA formats like RA Picks, Local News, This Week’s New Music, Mix Of the Day, and Socials channels.
  • Act as a visible and trusted point of contact within the local community, sharing context to help RA understand changes on the ground, and maintaining regular communication with the manager and the wider network.
  • Identify potential commercial opportunities, such as ticketing partnerships, and introduce relevant contacts to the Revenue team.
  • Assist promoters and venues in getting started with RA tools and maintain relationships with a set of priority contacts.
  • Support outreach and introductions for commercial activities with clear handover and follow-up.
  • Undertake optional extra work as agreed separately, such as supporting nearby cities, translations, news writing, or local event support.
