About The Position

Cisco Network & Voice System Administrator role in Washington, DC is focused on integrating complex enterprise systems. The role will require deep expertise in Cisco routing, switching, VOIP, VPN, and Session Border Controllers (SBCs), involving hands-on installation, troubleshooting, design, documentation, performance testing and stakeholder communication for large-scale network deployments. Key Responsibilities & Skills: Systems Integration: Merging new systems into existing large Cisco infrastructures. Cisco Technologies: Deep knowledge of Cisco routers, switches (enterprise-class), Voice Gateways, wireless APs, IP Phones, and Unified Communications Manager (CUCM). Core Networking: Expertise in routing (OSPF, BGP), switching, VPNs (IPSec), LAN/WAN. Advanced Services: Implementing and managing VOIP, SBCs, Content Switching, Load Balancing, IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems). Lifecycle Management: Installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining all Cisco hardware/software. Design & Documentation: Developing network designs, writing implementation plans, and creating system-level evaluation reports. In essence, this role is for a senior Cisco engineer who bridges network engineering, voice engineering, and systems administration to deploy complex, integrated communication solutions within large organizations, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability using Cisco's extensive product portfolio.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a computer science/computer engineering related discipline; may accept additional experience in lieu of degree.
  • 10 years IT network engineering support experience (Tier II, Tier III, network infrastructure implementation, and maintenance).
  • Expert experience in one or more of the following: Unclassified Voice Systems, Secure Voice Systems to include red switch, TDM Switching, Voice Over IP (VOIP).
  • Systems Integration such as merging new systems into existing large Cisco infrastructures.
  • Deep knowledge of Cisco routers, switches, Voice Gateways and Unified Communications Manager (CUCM).
  • Expertise in routing (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), switching, VPNs (IPSec), LAN/WAN and Firewall technologies.
  • Lifecycle Management such as Installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining all Cisco hardware/software.
  • Developing network designs, writing implementation plans, and creating system-level evaluation reports.
  • Experience supporting the government customers in secure environments, familiarity of NIPRNET and SIPRNET operating standards and applicable guidelines.
  • Firsthand experience in developing and providing quality assurance review of engineering change orders relating to the replacement or enhancement of perimeter security hardware and software.
  • Experienced with performing root cause analysis, risk identification, and risk mitigation.
  • Expert Knowledge of cabling standards, fiber optic and copper cable termination.
  • Management of personnel supporting large government customers.
  • US Citizenship.
  • Active top secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI. Must have held an SCI clearance within the past 3 years.
