About The Position

The Circulator provides direct and indirect professional nursing care to patients in the operating room and is accountable for ongoing evaluation and documentation of care in perioperative and outpatient settings using the nursing process. The role supports continuous quality improvement, follows the MHS Standards of Excellence, and maintains strict confidentiality. This flex-time position is based at Marietta Memorial Hospital Campus in Marietta, Ohio, with shifts varying as scheduled and 48 hours worked biweekly.

Requirements

• Current licensure in Ohio as a Registered Nurse.
• BLS certification required upon hire.
• ACLS certification required within one year of employment.
• Maintain compliance in RQI.
• Verbal, clerical, and numerical skills; manual dexterity; color vision; and near visual acuity.

Responsibilities

• Complete assignments as given by the charge nurse.
• Create and maintain a warm, positive, calm atmosphere throughout the department.
• Gather supplies and equipment for surgical cases and prepare the surgery suite for procedures.
• Restock supplies in the surgery suite after procedures and monitor inventory, notifying appropriate individuals when supplies are needed.
• Operate equipment and perform technical skills according to policies and standards; learn new skills and seek assistance appropriately.
• Synthesize patient data and implement appropriate action plans using judgment and critical thinking.
• Complete clear, concise documentation according to policy and accurately record information in patient charts.
• Collaborate with appropriate disciplines to develop coordinated outcomes and interventions, and communicate with team members about patient progress.
• Maintain accountability for attendance and timely completion of competencies, mandatory programs, unit-specific requirements, and unit meetings.
• Ensure the Surgery Department and Operating Rooms are clean, safe, and sanitary.
• Follow established universal precautions when using gloves, gowns, and masks.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
